James Law
James is a PhD student in the Department of Design and Innovation conducting research into robotic systems. His work investigates methods for implementing coordination and cooperation in robotic teams, with particular application to dynamic and challenging environments. James’ research interests include spatial representation, task abstraction, task allocation architectures, planetary robotics and multi-robot systems.
James is part of a collaboration with the University of Plymouth and the University of Warwick, developing a competitive Mirosot robot football system under the FIRA robot football federation (www.fira.net). He manages the Open University’s robot football team and, along with colleagues from Warwick and Plymouth, has represented England in 4 international competitions, reaching the quarter finals of the World Cup in Singapore in 2005.
